When young David Dalery drives from his farm into Willcox, Arizona one day in August of 1912 he discovers pregnant, fifteen year-old Rainy (a victim of rape, and beaten by her father because of her condition) and promptly marries her. Appalled that David has married this unsuitable girl, his family disowns him, and the church people snubs them. Can David's faith in God sustain him? Can this instant marriage survive?
