FiledBy Innovates with Ingram Content Group on Author and Book Information
FiledBy, Inc. (http://www.filedby.com), the comprehensive online directory of author listings and websites, today announced a reciprocal author and book metadata sharing agreement with Ingram Content Group Inc.
Under the agreement, FiledBy™ will stream updated, author-generated book information to the Ingram Content Group to populate title databases such as iPage®, the leading selection and ordering e-business tool for the book industry. Ingram data is provided globally to over 100,000 online and brick-and-mortar booksellers and libraries. Ingram will also stream book and author data to FiledBy for inclusion on the FiledBy website.
Any published author can claim their pre-organized book listings at FiledBy, set up a new book or e-book and ensure that the information about their work, themselves and their creative partners is accurate and up-to-date. Author-generated corrections to book information made on FiledBy will now be streamed to Ingram, providing authors with a self-serve mechanism to control, correct and distribute any updates broadly throughout the book supply chain. There are more than 4 million author and book contributor listings pre-assembled in the FiledByRegistry™. Once claimed, every listing can be updated, customized and built upon using FiledBy’s free or paid website tools.
“Accurate title and author information leads to improved discovery and sales, and now authors can effect their own information online through FiledBy,” said Peter Clifton, Co-Founder and CEO, FiledBy. “By collaborating with Ingram, a leader in the book industry, we are providing traditional and self-published authors with a simple web-based solution to ensure their book and author information is correct, comprehensive and can be integrated into the broadest global book buying audience. Our collaboration is a big win for everyone involved.”
“Our work with FiledBy will give us an additional source to obtain the most up-to-date and accurate bibliographic data for books in our database,” said Philip Ollila, Chief Content Officer, Ingram Content Group. “We’re pleased to integrate this new data stream into our metadata collection.”
