I am working on my current book, Written In BLOOD, due to be published sometime later this month. It is a picaresque romp through the 17th and 18th centuries as we follow two of my vampire heroes in search of a proper home.

@ Michael Cogdill - it did not used to be the case. I now fear that my book The Black Witch will suffer for such sanitization, because it is about the 17th century and predates many laws against exploitation of what are called "children" (who were considered adults by the time they were 14). I also talk about slavery and forced prostitution. If that is the case, and people begin to apply modern law and standards of morality on all literature, then we will be raising a new generation of naive people with no concept of the brutal reality they will be confronted with when they venture out into the world. Better to leave books alone as an example of "free speech", and concentrate on prosecuting those who really do need pruning, like child pedophiles and pornographers. Archtypes exist to nurture the truth, and to remove them from books is sacrilege.

Hi, I'm new to this group and would like to promote my work. I write the Children of The Dragon series of SF/vampire fusion books, which crossover into other genres beside. I have 7 published and am working on an 8th at the moment. I have received good reviews so far so I must be doing something right, but need more people to actually take notice. I believe I have something to offer anyone in search of good, thought provoking literature.

Hi,so glad to be a member of Literary Fiction. I'm author of four children's books. My latest release is Buzzzzzzzz What Honeybees Do, and is a nonfiction educational book about a very important insect and our greatest pollinator the-- Honeybee. Then I have three other books that are fictions, Crying Bear, The Princess and the Castle, and The Prince and the Dragon. I'm currently working on my next book, another fiction, "The Christmas Secret" to be released late fall.

Hey, writers, is anyone here struck with awe and outrage at the number of critics, reviewers and others who celebrate a sanitized form of writing? Looking at a review of a southern novel today, I found praise that the work -- in essence -- carries no voice, sense of place or other patina of The South. By this standard of southern literary excellence out there now -- perpetrated by Clyde Edgerton, for one -- the great Harper Lee would take a verbal whipping for filling Mockingbird with archetypes that ring with truth. Am I missing something? Please, share you opinions. Warmest peace, Michael Cogdill

Being new to the group I have two books published and several projects in the works. I write action thrillers mostly. I need to find a new publisher though for the publishing of future projects.

Hi there, am new to the site, I write utter escapism trash to read on the beach.... although caution, not for the faint of heart. An erotic, shocking thriller.

Neal, what great news - daughter's wedding AND a new book to come out - and one to market! I've only just joined FiledBy (I'm a refugee from AuthorTree) and I've managed to post some details of one of my books. The other is "missing" so I've sent out an electronic search party...
