BettyJIN, I forgot to mention that Scofield Barracks, as we know it, is a very interesting and special tourist attraction. Scofield Barrack Army Post sits at the base of Koali-Koali (sp?)Pass, which was one of the entry points for Japanese bombers when they bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. I played golf on Scofield Barracks, but was not stationed there. I spent 5 years on Hickam AFB. I'm sure your husband knows all about the raids in 1941. In 1972 when I arrived at Hickam my office building still had the bullet pock-marks left by strafing Japanese.

BettyJIN, sorry I'm late responding to your note. I would enjoy visiting your husband's family tree. I'm sure by now that you've ascertained any connection of our Russell lines! I'll take a look at his line and compare it with other Russell lines that I know about but could not include them in my books. These are lines that I could find no connection to mine. I don't review FB too often; that is why I'm late in responding. I do use my internet most of the time. BTW, I don't plan on publishing again! But, I try to help others in their research when I can. I'd be happy to describe my publishing experience, if you're publishing for the first time, especially on genealogy; I may be able to provide a couple of pointers that I wish I'd known about in advance, i.e., indexes and etc.

Wanted to let you know I just started reading your book Descendants of Matthew Russell and Related Families.Purchased it because I am hoping to find something connected to my husband's Russell line. Want to keep up with any chance you of working on another book on the Russell family.

Thank you for the note. I was surfing online and discovered the book and ordered (3) "hard copies" of the book as they are collector items. One copy for me, one for my sister Margaret Ratigan and one for my niece Faith Cooksey. They have all received their copies and claim to enjoy them. I read mine everyday as it is rather hard to read and comprehend with all the dates and such. "You did a great job."

I just wanted to Walt know that his picture at Russell Cave was in the
North Jackson [AL] Progress Monday 12, paper. The picture is good. I advertised
Walt coming to the park and the picture (of Bertha Russell Gonce [g-great granddaugher of Thos Russell] and daughters Barbara and Carol) was attached. We've been
really busy here [since your visit] with programs and something going on all the time. We just had a Birds of Prey program this past sunday which brougt out about 100
people. I just wanted to say thanks again for your book signing. We have
already received your books to sell in our bookstore. (Russell Cave Nat. Mon., Bridgeport, AL)

Hi Walt and Jan,
Just a note to let you know. Your book and work is great. The way you wrote it, presented the lineages and the personal stories, makes you want to keep reading and I have. Your career should have been a writer. I always had the book The Stevenson Story. I knew Jacoway, Copenhaver, Barrier, Jones, Looney etc. were all interwoven into my dads heritage.

WOW!!!!! Your book arrived today, and all I can say after my cursory review is WOW!!!!!!! You have done an outstanding, fantastic job in documenting and telling your Russell family story. Will write more later when I have time to do some in depth reading. CONGRATULATIONS on a beautiful work of art.

Walt, The book is great! Mother and I have both gone through it and now my sister, Carolyn, is reading it. We will spend more time with it later. I'll give Carolyn your address so she can order her own book. I'll, also, show it to Jimmy (omitted) since he will probably want one. Thank you for publishing all your research. It will be a great help to many.
