Author Biography

VENKATARAMA KRISHNAN, PhD, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. After receiving the MS in Electrical engineering from Princeton University in 1959 where he was a Fulbright scholar (1956-58) and and Orson Desaix Munn scholar (1956-57), Professor Krishnan received his PhD (1963) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he has taught at the Indian Institute of Science, Polytechnic University, University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University. Additionally, he was a visiting professor at Smith College during spring 2003. He also worked for two years (1974-76) as a Senior Systems Analyst for Dynamics Research Corporation on estimation problems associated with navigation and guidance and continued as their consultant for more than a decade. Professor Krishnan’s research interests include estimation of steady state queue distributions; tomographic imaging; and aerospace, control, communications, probabilistic and stochastic systems. He has published in addition to technical papers four books, the latest being Probability and Random Processes by John Wiley in 2006. He received the best teaching award from UMass Lowell in 2000 and is listed in Who is Who in America, 2010.
