"Fortune's Choice" is a short but sweet love story about two men who fell for each other long ago but never acted on their feelings. When Keith runs into his old heartthrob, Dale, he knows nothing has changed. Though Dale appears as straight as an arrow, he knows far more than he lets on about Keith's inner wants and needs.
When it looks like they might have a chance at happiness together, Keith and Dale set out to rediscover everything they can about each other. There is much to learn, for example, about Keith's success as a writer of gay fiction, and Dale's busy career running the family construction business. To put it bluntly, they don't waste any time making up for lost time.
"Fortune's Choice" is a Torquere Press Single Shot so it's fairly short at 25 pages, which doesn't leave a lot of room for anything else but plot and characterization. Woods handles both quite well, giving us just enough of each to keep this sweetly told, second-chance-at-love story afloat.
