Speedy Brown
Author Biography
Speedy Lamar Brown was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He started his writing career early in life as an adolescent writing poems and short stories while sharing them with family and friends. Speedy’s first years of writing success came about when he started his high school’s journalism class and school news paper. People often told him he should publish his writings. He believes you can change the world with a pen. Speedy’s other many talents include painting, sketching; and writing screen and stage plays. Speedy’s older brother, who was killed in 2003, taught him a way of creative writing. His brother taught him how to tell a story and how to get his point across. He also inherited his writing ability from his mother, Ethel Johnson who is the author of the published book Believest Thou This. Speedy has overcome many trails in his life despite all of his adversities his dream is finally realized through the pages of Mahogany’s Blues which is the first of a saga. Speedy thanks his father for teaching him the importance of an education. This husband and father love’s the ocean, his wife Tamika to whom he cherishes and thanks tremendously, children and playing sports. We look forward to many more works from this upcoming writer. Speedy loves to leave you wanting more. Speedy doesn’t like to speak much on himself, but believes his works will speak for him.
A Few Words From The Author
All my life I was told that I talk too much and that I was too much.
To me in silence there’s death. Then came a time in my life where everything was silent.
This Mahogany's Blues was birthed from that silence .This book is an expression of that death. To me words are more powerful than any weapon that man kind can use; it isn’t what you say it’s how you say it. Words formed from the mouth of God shaped and formed our very existence .In my silent place (The Michigan Department of corrections)
I discovered hidden talents that where buried deep although I knew how to draw, write poetry, songs, etc. I didn’t know how to let my soul speak and through out these pages you can hear the voice of a man that was screaming in his silence. In that silence I came to the end of myself only to find myself. I am A writer with a ready pen.
