Vanessa's Choice
Author: Sonya ArtisSonya Artis

This story is based on actual events in the life of Vanessa, a single mother of one that is hospitalized from internal bleeding and near death. During her ordeal she finds out that she is pregnant, and the doctor believes the bleeding is being caused by the fetus she is carrying. Although her doctor recommends abortion, Vanessa is too busy living life on the fast track to think about her pregnancy, and before she knows it, it is too late to abort. Now she is faced with having to make decisions she is not mentally ready- nor mature enough to make. She barely takes care of the two year old daughter she already has as her priorities lie with partying and living each day care free. As time passes she becomes homeless and hospitalized in a state where she has no one to lean on for assistance. The decisions she makes after this realization will change her from a partying, carefree, combative girl to a responsible, mature woman.

This book is a sad story that so many people go through in different ways. It doesn't have to be adoption/abortion, it can be drug abuse, physical abuse, fear....the list goes on and on. You will be able to connect with the main character as she goes through rough times and you will want to give her support as she goes through. THe book is well written and the author makes it easy to make you feel like you are in the story. Hurry up with book two!

Every now and than we're blessed to read a epic drama that'll make you experience all that the author has felt or experienced in their story. Vanessa's Choice is one of those rare stories. I truly enjoy reading and I love to write, but Ms.Sonya Artis has taken the art of writing to an advance level. Reading the events covered in this epic tale has done everything to make me experience all the different emotions humanly possible. This story is so full of life and true feelings that there is no way you can read this without feeling as if you're experiencing the pain and hard-ache that the author is sharing with us. This novel is absolutely brilliant with it's captivating and intriguing storyline which is based on actual events in the life of Vanessa, a single mother of one that is hospitalized from internal bleeding and near death. During her ordeal she finds out that she's pregnant, and her doctor's prognosis is the bleeding is caused by the fetus she is carrying. Although her doctor recommends abortion, Vanessa is too busy being what she believes as the life of the party to think about her pregnancy, and before she knows it, it is too late to abort. Now Vanessa is faced with making many extremely hard decisions that she's just not emotionally ready for.

I am a fan of Ms. Artis' talent for writing and this awesome story. Her writing skills and technique to bring her story to life is truly amazing. Ms. Artis is certainly a force to watch in this literary game and will go no where but up to higher heights as long as she writes like this! A true author that deserves to be among the greats. I would without question support this author in all she does. FIVE STARS ***** Redsnapper "Erotic Fiction Author"

Vanessa's Choice was a stark picture of the options (or lack thereof) that poverty in America affords people. The main character, living the party life, finds herself in the absolute most desperate of situations. I can't even imagine how she survived and thrived in the aftermath of everything that happens in the book. But, thank goodness she did and has the courage to share her story. I'm glad we'll be treated to part 2!

Overall, it was a quick and relatively easy read. It provides some good lessons for young people, but probably isn't appropriate for anyone under 15 or 16. The situations this woman finds herself in are hard, but you can see her path and how she is thinking about her situation. In some cases (with one of the men she's dating) she does not demand the respect she deserves, but in others (with an old friend) she fiercely defends herself and her family.

Vanessa's Choice really opened my eyes to alot of things going on in our society today. The author, Sonya Artis, really put her heart and soul into this book. “I know Sonya on a personal level and am very honored to be considered one of her friends. "Vanessa's Choice" is a great book in part due to its content but mostly because Sonya had the courage to share her story when most of us might have locked ours away and thrown away the key! Regardless of where life's journey has taken you I am certain this book will warm your heart...Enjoy!” December 2, 2009

Sonya is a dedicated, caring person who puts her entire heart and soul into whatever she is working on. I personally read Vanessa's Choice and LOVED IT! I can't wait for the second, third, fourth, etc. books to find out what happens next. I trust her as a person and as a friend. I worked with her for 3.5 years and always found her willing to help with anything.” Janel V.

I like it. You leave the reader wondering why a woman would choose to give her baby away, and put the reality of the opinions of family in the story. I'd be interested in knowing where the next chapter headed. Exactly what you want your readers to do.

Reading this story made me wonder, is adoption really better than abortion? This lady thought she was doing the right thing by giving up her child for adoption based on her situation but the heart ache it caused makes me think...it would have been better to have an abortion. I know this is a true story. Is it about the author?
