Hi Sharhonda,
Check out my web site braintospell.com to read details about my book Using the Brain to Spell, especially to read the numerous endorsements from teachers of all levels--elementary through high school--who have found my book of value.
You and your students should also enjoy viewing pictures of my creatures from the imaginary Planet Spellingmess. Dressing up as one each year always around Halloween was just one of the many strategies I used to gain the attention of my students to teach an important concept about our language.
My work is a valuable resource because it contains numerous enjoyable activities that will help children and even adults grow not only in spelling ability but also in all communication skills. My book also discusses how reading teachers can use different approaches to teaching students to improve in all communication skills, including spelling.
I started working on researching spelling in graduate school way back in 1988 and then as a teacher-researcher in my 7th grade classes for many years.
A child’s first word indicates the beginning of his/her language development in which one counterpart is learning to spell. My book, therefore, is very relevant to working with little ones.
The focus of my book is on HOW children should be taught, the essence of which is to make learning fun!
I hope you will be interested in purchasing it, a decision I know you won't regret.
Sally
