Oh what a diabolically delightful book. Anyone with a quaint name like Pairalee Pendleton must have a few tales to tell and tell them she does. There are tales of strange medical conditions, geezers gone wild, tainted love, children behaving badly and aliens with puzzled expressions on their faces. Here you have them, Twenty Four Stories of the Macabre that would lend themselves nicely to television adaptation or even community theatre productions. They have not made ss collections like this in a long, long while and are reminiscent of those of Saki, Poe, and O. Henry.
