Author Biography
Rod Pyle is a writer and documentary filmmaker. His previous writing credits include "Missions to the Moon" and "Destination Moon" by Carlton Books UK (also distributed in the US by Smithsonian/Harper Collins), and In Their Own Words: The Space Race, a 7- hour audio book published by Topics Entertainment.
He has written, directed and produced many science-oriented documentaries, including Modern Marvels: Apollo 11 for The History Channel, and Mars: 100 Years of Discovery for Goldhil Entertainment. He has also been a visual effects producer and consultant for such shows such as Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Paramount’s Warlords: Battle for the Galaxy.
Rod is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design and holds an MA from Stanford University. "Missions to the Moon" will go on sale in May 2009. "Destination Moon", released in November 2005, was selected as an About.com “Top Ten of 2005” book, and will be reprinted in 2009. Rod has given dozens of media interviews about his books, including many US commercial networks, NPR, XM and Sirius Satellite radio. His comments on NASA’s return to the moon have been sought by USA Today, Sci-Fi Wire, SPACE.COM, MSNBC.com and others. "Destination Moon" is included in the Special Collection of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science.
