Author Biography

Rita Kaye Vetsch - I grew up in the very small town of St. Michael, Minnesota. I've always had a passion for writing and often pretended I was a journalist hammering out a story for a newspaper. In High School, I had an incredible English Teacher who inspired me beyond words. She did not only teach me about grammer and punctuation, she taught me how to reach inside myself and be creative.

After working in computers for 11 years, my job was outsourced to India. I took a year off not knowing what to do next. I had always wanted to write a children's book, but had never thought it would happen. One night, I had the most vivid dream ever and I dreamt of a place where children could learn about diversity and making new friends. I knew I had to get it down on paper quickly and expand on this story. Soon, my story turned into reality. After a year, it was almost ready. Things just started falling into place and my agent found a publisher!! AEG/Strategic/Eloquent Books wanted to publish my book. What an honor! I also insisted on drawing the illustrations how they looked in my dream. 2 years later, my book is published!! Someone pinch me because I am just a small town girl and never thought I would accomplish a major goal of mine like this.

My entire goal was to write a meaningful and inspiring story that children could bring away a positive message from. If this book touches even one child's life it will have been worth it! Katherine is the main character and named after my 6 year old daughter Katherine. She is my inspiration and my 'everything' in life.

The book was just released 2 weeks ago and I am having a blast! I have gotten all excellent reviews so far and I am just so grateful. I feel like a part of my life is now complete. Now I just want to see where it takes me.

My family and I now reside in Central Minnesota with our two naughty, but entertaining little pups, Kasper and Koko Bean. I am now licensed a family daycare provider and have been taking care of a handful of children for the past year. Something that I also love to do is spend time with children. They have all given me the thumbs up on my new book :)

My Cup Runneth Over!

This book written and illustrated by Rita Vetsch is truely and inspirational and heart moving story! This book helps childern understand that just because other childern/people look different they are just like you and me and they are not to be feared. Katherine the main character in the story has a beautiful dream where she meets different looking and scary creatures;however after she gets to know them she realizes they are her friends. great book!
