Author Biography

I was born on September 29, 1971 in Fairfield, Alabama. We moved to Georgia when I was four and then on to Texas in March of 1979 when I was seven. I've always loved to write and can remember my 5th grade teacher calling my mother to laugh about the fact that he had asked for a one page story and I provided him with five. Yes, I'm long winded. I was also extremely shy and found that writing was a way to give my otherwise quiet self a voice. I have written poetry and many short stories in addition to the Sonshine Girls series.
A very good friend of mine, Lori Kaufman, always told me that I need to write a book and have it published. Of course, I laughed. I was never good at finishing things. But in November of 2005 I did sit down and begin to write that book. "It's about time," Lori scolded.

I finished the book in three months, the entire time e-mailing it back and forth between Lori and Tiffany Dauzat who both encouraged me by always asking for more.

I now live in Conroe, TX with my husband whom I've been married to for over 18 years and six children. I attend Lifestyle Community Church in Conroe, TX where I help with the children's ministry and puppet team.

SONSHINE GIRLS - Book # 1 SUMMER SECRET by Author Rene' Morris.
Summer Secret is the first in a series of books that showcase four young girls as they share their summer before entering Junior High School in the fall.

Charli, Anna, Jessica, and Kristen set up fundraisers to earn money for church camp; they have sleepovers, and deal with the awkwardness of being thirteen. The church bully continues her reign of being rude and hurtful to the girls. Anna tries to “make-over” her friends and this causes tension throughout the book. The girls also learn how to deal with everyday issues and respond in a Christian manner.

Rene’ Morris’s debut novel of using Christian principles to deal with issues faced by young girls will have fans waiting anxiously for the next adventure of the Sonshine Girls. Ms. Morris is definitely a new, Christian author on the rise. If you’re looking for a new series for your daughter, this is it. The Sonshine Girls is similar to The Babysitter’s Club but with a Christian attitude.
