Author Biography

Defend Yourself integrates martial art techniques created centuries ago in the Orient into a surprisingly effective method used today to deter an unprovoked attack from nearly any dog. Traditionally, martial arts were created using a wide variety of hand, arm, leg, and foot techniques to defend against human attacks. All of the techniques that are demonstrated here, however, are exclusively for warding off a dog attack coming from any direction. After a combined thirty-five years of training under famous Chinese martial arts masters, Coach Melvin has taken those techniques and combined them into a truly innovative system of self-defense never before seen in the East or West.

Using the basic exercise program at the beginning of this book will help you to understand, stimulate, and control the flow of Qi (vital energy) within you. These exercises are designed to first calm the mind, and then to rejuvenate and bring the body into a state of equilibrium. Both will help you maintain a balanced state in the chaotic midst of applying techniques in Defend Yourself during a real attack. Detailed instructions, with copious, easy-to-follow illustrations for various circumstances, are included.
