Author, editor, retreat leader, & spiritual director.
I value substance and transparency, poetry and rhythm, stories of courage, humor, wilderness, and the human spirit. Nature, spirituality, play, prayer, and service often show up in my writing and blogs.
Home is on the wild and sturdy landscape of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, USA.
Dozens of my working years were spent with teens and college students leading retreats, offering leadership programs, and helping people make meaning from whatever life brings. I'm a rather simple person, but my "yes" has brought many extraordinary opportunities and people into my life.
Adventurous and creative, I trust the unknown, and know through tough personal experiences that there is always a reason to hope ... no matter what. In 2006 my teenage son died, unexpectedly, by suicide. Justin's death and my own process of grief and healing magnifies my desire to be of service to others through writing, presence, and the age old practice of spiritual direction.
I look forward to greeting you through my books, social networking, and Web site.
