Author Biography

Olive Peart, who founded Demarche Publishing in 2008 and DLite Press in 2009, was honored at the Juneteenth Celebration of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Westchester and Rockland Counties (NY) at its annual award dinner, June 17, 2010. Peart was recognized as one of the Chamber's "10 Influential Blacks" in Westchester & Rockland Counties.

Olive obtained her diploma in radiologic technology from the Program in Radiography, University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. She furthered her career with an advanced level certification in mammography imaging; obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Science Writing from Empire State College in Westchester County, New York; and achieved a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Olive is the author of two young adult novels, Linked and The Intruders, published in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Her published non-fictions works include: Spanish for Professionals in Radiology, the second edition of which was published this year by DLite Press; Lange Q & A Mammography Examination, the second edition of which was published by McGraw-Hill in 2009; and Mammography and Breast Imaging - Just the Facts, also published by McGraw-Hill. The second edition of her book Mammography and Breast Imaging - Just the Facts will be available in March 2011.

Olive Peart is also an established lecturer and writer. She gives lectures on mammography and other radiography-related topics at seminars throughout the United States and Canada and her articles appear regularly in radiological journals and newsmagazines. She writes technical query columns for Radiologic Technology - Journal of the American Society of Radiologic Technologist and she is an editorial consultant and writer with RT Image Magazine.

Olive is married and has three children. In addition to her writings and life as a full-time mother she works as a clinical and academic instructor with the Stamford Hospital Program in Radiography, a hospital based didactic and clinical education program for radiologic or x-ray technologists. Graduates of the program are employed as entry-level radiologic technologists. At Stamford Hospital, Olive also publishes of a monthly radiologic newsletter, The Roentgen Review.

Olive is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). She is a member of the Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists (CSRT); the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT); the Authors Guild of America; and the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA).
