After a career in medicine and biological research I've settled in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England. I walk the countryside around my home and collect local folktales. And I write stories. So far I've published a collection of "supernatural" tales (which don't have any ghosts in them) and a "crime novel" - or rather a novel about a crime novelist writing a crime novel. Currently I'm finishing a book about the history of a Peak District folktale; and I'm working on a second novel, which is about the surveillance society into which modern Britain is being transformed.
