Author Biography

Mark D. White is Professor in the Department of Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy at the College of Staten Island/CUNY, where he teaches courses in economics, philosophy, and law. He has authored dozens of journal articles and book chapters in the intersections between these fields, and has edited (or co-edited) a number of books on the subjects. He is the series editor of Perspectives from Social Economics (Palgrave Macmillan), and a frequent contributor and editor in the Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, which introduces readers to basic philosophical concepts using the movies, TV shows, comic books, and music that they love.
Current Projects:
I'm integrating and extending my work on Kant and economics in "Autonomy, Dignity, and Character: Kantian Ethics and the Economic Individual" (for Stanford University Press).

I'm also editing several books: "Accepting the Invisible Hand," the first release planned for the "Perspectives from Social Economics" series from Palgrave Macmillan; "Retributivism: Essays in Theory and Policy" for Oxford; and "Green Lantern and Philosophy" with Jane Dryden for Wiley-Blackwell.
