Grand-tastic!!, August 21, 2009
By Bernadette (Murray, Ky)

This book was very cute! While reading I often reflected on how it was when I grew up. The illustrations let me see just how Linda viewed life as she was growing up. As a bilingual book, I think it will touch many hearts of several cultures as they reflect how life was while they were growing up. It's a good book and I would definately recommend it!

Great book! pictures were so so cute. I loved the English and Spanish languages. Reasonable cost. I shared this book with my ESL adult students and they loved it. Looking forward for the next edition.

This book is great for ALL ages! I've read it several times- to my students and to my own children and every time I choke up and tear. The heartfelt memories that Linda shares with us is truly touching. The reader really feels the warmth and love that the author is expressing through her memoir. I will cherish this book always!

When I Was Little, March 11, 2009
By Gary Draffen (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Ca United States)

This is a beautifully written and illustrated book filled with real " from the heart" experiences of a young girl growing up in a typical Hispanic family in Los Angeles. Linda's lemon stand selling "special sweet" lemons to which she had added a little sugar of her own and her heartwarming memory of getting pumpkins the day AFTER Halloween because they were free are sure to inspire and amuse young readers. She recalls her fathers efforts at Christmas to earn a little extra money for their family by selling Christmas trees and his example of character and generosity when he gave his largest tree away to a lady who was struggling to buy his smallest one. The book is written in English and Spanish in parallel, making it a perfect teaching tool.

When I Was Little, March 30, 2009

The book offers an honest and in depth account of a young girls' experiences growing up in the traditions and culture of a Hispanic family, a story that is well complimented by its illustrations.

What makes this book particularly special is it's bilingual translation, as it not only allows the reader to examine a second form of storytelling through a completely different language, but also serves for a more universal audience.

Great book!

My Daughter's Favorite, April 19, 2009
By A. Yen (Northridge, CA)

This bilingual children's book is well crafted with its anecdotal Hispanic American stories. My daughter loves the illustrations and I love the fact that it has sparked her interest in learning more Spanish. I'm looking forward to other title's by this author and illustrator.

I came across this great find after searching for both a fun and educational bilingual book to read to my son. Whether I'm reading in English or Spanish, my son loves to follow along with the illustrations. This is definitely a bedtime favorite!

This book offers to the reader a sweet look at the experiences of a young girl from a large Mexican family. My kindergarten students enjoyed hearing about her adventures and experience growing up. They laughed at times and got really hungry at others! They related to the text and enjoyed it, making it an excellent addition to our classroom library. This book was also an excellent read for me, because it painted such a sweet picture of the author's childhood, making me nostalgic for those carefree days when I was little. Great book!
