Growing up in Cynthiana Kentucky, I knew that gardening was my thing. I have taken it to the extreme at times, and have had many successes and failures in the art of gardening. I created my book, Secrets of a Kentucky Gardener, to help myself and others get a grip on their landscape; so they could reap the rewards as I do. I took 10 years and followed the seasons through, and now I have a complete journal of timely events for anyone in Kentucky. My next book, Secrets of Tennessee Gardening, I created to cater to the “Volunteer State” Gardener. My newest book, Grimy, Grubby Gardening, delivers educational material to elementary age children. This children’s book is beautifully illustrated and will certainly introduce any child to world of gardening.
My books are so timely, and USDA Zone specific, you need only to read the month or chapter you are presently in to create a great landscape all year round. I have included tons of lore, poetry, and quotes for extra entertainment, in case pruning bores you?
As a Fayette County Master Gardener, I volunteer for The Arboretum at University of Kentucky, McConnell Springs, and The Hope Lodge. I serve as the Arboriculture Chair for the Garden Club of Kentucky as well as the South Atlantic Region Garden Clubs. I am a member of Soil Mates Garden Club. I serve as Chair of the Lexington Tree Board. I live in Lexington with my husband Mike and 2 daughters, Sarah & Rachel.
