John W. Otis has had a lifelong interest and involvement in the study, discovery, and application of universal principles. He has been actively involved as a lecturer and teacher in various spiritual growth and metaphysical organizations for over 40 years. He served as Assistant Director and Teacher at the Christ Truth Foundation in Portland, Oregon during the 1970’s, and since that time has been President and co-founder with his wife, Cheryl Hyland, of The Eye of the Sacred Wind Foundation (www.sacredwind.org). John has been receiving guided messages from the Higher Self since the early 1960’s. These messages, or Lessons from the Soul, have been recorded since 1995 and are part of an extensive library maintained at the foundation. The Lessons are on a variety of subjects related to various aspects of spiritual growth and expanding awareness.

After graduating from Stanford University in 1960 with a BS degree in General Engineering, John served as a US Naval Officer, entrepreneur, international business educator, and world traveler. Since 1986, he has been active in educational, economic and community development projects in the United States, Puerto Rico, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. He has been the keynote speaker at international conferences and has lectured extensively on community and business development, and on spiritual growth topics. He retired in 2008 to commit full time to writing and the work of the foundation.

John has published various magazine articles and books including Will the Real You Please Stand Up? published in June, 2006 by the Eye of the Sacred Wind Foundation, Whispers from the Shower published in early 2009, and Awakening to Soul Consciousness to be published in late 2009. He published The International Business Plan Workbook in 1987, and from 2000 to 2008 wrote a bi-weekly column on community and economic development for the Taos News in Taos, New Mexico. Since 1997, John has produced a weekly newsletter called Lessons from the Soul that reaches over 10,000 people weekly by email.

In 1995, John and his wife, Cheryl, moved The Eye of the Sacred Wind Foundation to Taos, New Mexico USA where they were also active in a number of volunteer projects. They then moved to Whitefish, Montana USA in November, 2008 where they are active full time in the work of the foundation. John is an ordained minister, soul counselor and Teacher of Truth. He officiates at weddings and other ceremonies, and offers soul counseling through Destiny Awareness readings.
