A journey through the world of book publishers: The Caner's Handbook was first published by Van Nostrand Reinhart in 1983. A few years later VNR sold all their trade books to Prentice Hall which was then purchased by Simon and Schuster. In 1990 Widess met Ron Pulleyn, owner of Lark Books at the National Convergence of the Handweavers Guild of America.
