Born in a small southwestern town on the prairies of North Dakota, surviving harsh and difficult living conditions, I moved on with life full of energy. After college I worked with a construction company as office manager, then moved into the home furnishings industry and at age 28 was managing a large, first class furniture store. By age 31 I had 3 stores of my own, and continued managing the 4th. My life was full, married at 19, 8 children by age 29, athletic in my years and community, civic and church committed. At age 54, I was diagnosed with ALS and told I had 3-5 years to live. I am now 70 and still going, albeit different from the first 54 years. It has been a blessing, this "challenge", as I have grown spiritually and trust God Totally. God is the center of my life and without that I would not have survived. Blessings abound each day as I remain open, non-judgemental of everything and everybody, and by helping others, I am the one that is rewarded. |
