Jessica Layne Bird grew up in Moose Jaw, SK, Canada.
She began to write her first, and not yet completed novel, at the age of 16. By age 19, she had published 2 books of poetry: "Eccentric Beauty” and “Angels Breath." The novel... an on again, off again working progress.

"Basically... I rewrote the thing 4 times, then got sick of it for a couple years, and now I'm in college... so it'll be awhile until it's finished." Says Bird.

"Angels Breath" Bird's second book, its title intentionally lacking an apostrophe, becoming the most successful of the two. "I couldn't decide if it should be one angel's breath, or many. So I left to the imagination..." says Bird. "Also... it didn't look as nice with one. Haha."

“Eccentric Beauty” being the first of her works to be featured on The Regina Chapter’s Best Sellers Wall, has wiggled its way into the hearts of Saskatchewan poetry lovers. “Angels Breath” gaining in popularity was soon to follow.

"Angels Breath" has been dedicated to Bird's late uncle; Joe Bird: An accomplished and talented actor, musician and comedian. Who died, on April 1st, but a handful of days before the release of “Eccentric Beauty”.

Bird also credits her success to her family. "My family is incredibly supportive... they brave snowstorms just to get to my poetry readings, and musical performances. ...Atleast my mom thinks I'm cool."

Bird’s books seem to have something for everyone, having attracted a wide and varied fan-base.

“I’m very grateful to those who’ve supported and attended my poetry readings, and to those who have purchased my books. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you guys.”

Bird credits being able to publish her upcoming novel titled “Avangeline”, and third poetry book (which remains unnamed), to the support of fans, and to the success of “Eccentric Beauty” and “Angels Breath”.

"I never thought in my wildest dreams, that I would be on the radio... much less front page news" Bird comments. "It's been a wonderful and nerve-racking experience; which is forcing me to get over my biggest and most inconvenient fear for a poet/musician… stage-fright. Sometimes, I miss being the drummer."
