Author Biography

Jennifer Iserloh, the Skinny Chef, believes that the essence of good health springs from your own kitchen. You can eat the foods you love by cooking them in the healthy way to satisfy both body and soul. She celebrates delicious, easy to prepare dishes that can be enjoyed for a lifetime, reinventing meals that grandma would be proud to serve.

As a trained chef, Jennifer has shared her recipes and healthy living tips in print publications such a SELF magazine, Prevention, and First for Women, on radio, and on television on programs like the Today Show, CBS, and NBC. As a certified yoga teacher and former private chef for internationally known celebrities, she continues to teach the secrets to comforting meals made healthier and healthy fare made tastier.

Her mission as the Skinny Chef is to embed the rich flavors of restaurant foods and comfort classics in healthier versions that can be enjoyed guilt free – foods can indeed be flavorful, beautiful, satisfying and healthy at the same time!
Influences/Inspirations:
Ten years ago, Jennifer was neither skinny nor a chef. She grew up in a family of food fanatics, outstanding cooks, and passionate, overindulging eaters. Granny raised her the old-fashioned way, especially when it came to food. Growing up in Granny’s kitchen, it was impossible not to fall in love with food.

Food was her way to socialize with family and friends, sitting around the table and sharing the day’s stories all while enjoying delicious, tasty meals.
Current Projects:

Interests:
After graduating with honors from the Institute of Culinary Education, (formerly Peter Kump’s), Jennifer was invited to intern with Chef Scott Bryan, chef owner of Veritas restaurant. While there, she met Tyler Florence of the Food Network. Serving again upon invitation, she interned on Tyler’s cookbook, Eat This Book, where she learned the essentials of food styling and photography.

Charities/Causes:
Over the years, Jennifer has been active in several New York-based organizations, including FoodChange, Play4Life, and the Whole Grains Council – teaching students about nutrition and advocating her approaches to combating childhood obesity.
