Letters to Eliza
Jan shares her childhood stories of growing up in the 1950's and 60's with her grandchildren and her readers. Jan's vivid, animated narratives show the innocence of youth, the joy of living in a loving family and a touch of life's unfairness. Her stories reflect a Southern heritage filled with river baptisms, playing in the woods, and of soft talk and "Sugar." She inspires her readers to remember their own stories, and perhaps to share them as well.

Jan, Loved "Letters to Eliza." I started it the evening it came in the mail and couldn't put it down. You have such skill with words and such touching stories. I never really understood the childhood of a young girl growing up in the South...and what a wonderful family to draw from in those stories. Don't stop!!! Julie Mac

Jan, I finally read Letters to Eliza over the weekend. What delightful stories and how wonderful that you have shared them. You had such a beautiful childhood .... playing outdoors and enjoying nature .... and family .... so many things reminded me of my growing up years....except I was non athletic and was always the LAST chosen for any team .... Each event you wrote about, was a story in itself and it was all charming. I wish I had your talent for selecting the write words to express yourself. You truly have a gift. Love, Barb
