Author of the 4th edition book 'Video Communications: the Whole Picture,' James Wilcox began his career in graphic communications in 1977, and transitioned to electronic communications in 1995. Since then, he has focused on video and mobile communications, and on information security. He has served companies including Nokia, Sprint, Sybase, and Aruba Networks.
Mr. Wilcox is a past President and a founding member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Portland, Oregon chapter, where he was instrumental in ISSA’s first Regional Conference, first Student Charter Framework, and where he founded one of ISSA’s first chapter Advisory Councils (including executives from Nike, Tektronix, and Standard Insurance). He holds the CISSP designation and a BS in Business and Management, with a specialty in Telecommunications and Information Management, from Marylhurst University, where he learned from such distinguished authors as Harry Green.
James Wilcox also graduated from Musicians Institute, in Hollywood, CA, in 1983, where he learned from such guitar icons as Joe Pass, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Howard Roberts, Tommy Tedesco, Scott Henderson, and Keith Wyatt.
When Mr. Wilcox is not writing books or writing/recording music, he is often playing guitar and singing with his band, The Working Stiffs (www.theworkingstiffs.com). He also enjoys running, camping, hiking, and canoeing.
