Author Biography

Heather Fitzpatrick,37, resides in Warrenton, Virginia, with her husband and two daughters. After the loss of her father to cancer in 2002, and her mother to heart failure in 2008, Heather wrote "The Day I Saw a Dragonfly."
Heartfelt and sincere, "The Day I Saw a Dragonfly" is a children's tale that makes letting go a little easier. Inspired by her daughters, the author carries on her father's dream and a family tradition of storytelling, she shares with readers a special story about angels that fly on the backs of dragonflies. Especially tender to young readers that have suffered the death of a family member or beloved pet, this narrative celebrates life, enchantment, and the special corners of heaven.

This is a story for kids of all ages. It is a story simply told, with sweetness and much love. Having experienced the loss of both my parents, this book reminded me to look for them in the little things of my daily life. At our house, we see dragonflies all the time now!

This is a lovely story that will relate to readers of all ages. I was given this book by a very special young lady and her equally special family after the death of my brother. It helps me to look forward. To look for new things. I am certainly looking forward to “seeing” my brother in the little everyday happenings, as we learn to live on this earth without him. You can be sure that I will always look a little more closely at dragonflies! A beautiful story, succinctly written. Well done Ms. Fitzpatrick!” --Alicia B. Jenne (Alabama)
