HEAVENLY SOLUTION: Why all the brokenness? The Designer of all human beings is recalling all souls manufactured, regardless of race or year, due to a serious defect in the central part of the heart. This is due to a glitch in the original prototype units called Adam and Eve, resulting in the production of the same flaw in all subsequent units. Some of the symptoms include: Foul vocal emissions, loss of direction and selfish or violent behavior. The number to call for repair in all places is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, use knee mail and follow the repentance procedure. Humility and chastity are most efficacious.

PEACE? In order to have peace, Israel and the world's nations must leave the Palestinians alone ("Israel planning construction on disputed land," The Wichita Eagle, Oct. 16, pg. 14a). Israel would do well to remember Ephron's humanity; how Isaac and Ishmael were brought together in the cave of Machpelah (Gen. 25: 8-10 RSV). It must be pointed out that from Genesis to the present, God chose Israel to be a "trustee" for the Covenant and the land, wherever they were (are), and this to be shared with the other inhabitants rather than a deeded possession. "The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof" (Ps. 24: 1 RSV). We are all sojourners here for a time.

It outlines how we all are to take care of the earth (not possess it) and each other; we are only sojourners here as per the Holy Scriptures. APEX REVIEW by Cary Merriman: Throughout the pages of I STOLE THE TURTLE AND THE OCTAVE RULE, author George Norton takes the reader on a journey back to a simpler time, one sure to spark long-dormant flames of nostalgia. More than just a trip down memory lane, though, Norton's insightful volume also provides the reader with a profound glimpse into the more subtle nuances of the human condition, simultaneously providing practical examples of how to overcome adversity - rather than bemoan its unavoidable omnipresense.

Some of the symptoms include: Foul vocal emissions, loss of direction and selfish or violent behavior. The number to call for repair in all places is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, use knee mail and use the repentance procedure. Humility and chastity are most efficacious.

TONGUE-TIED: There was a novice in a monastery who went to his superior for advice regarding his babbling. The superior suggested a drastic yet effective solution. He instructed the young and inexperienced novice to tie a small stone to his tongue with a piece of string. For many weeks the brotherhood wondered greatly why this individual never spoke to anyone. They all eventually found out that this humble-made monk conquered vain talk in 5 weeks.

Knowledge is the edge that gives an advantage in life. But make sure you scrutinize all infotainment. The most important thing about life is to get understanding. Where there is hatred, sow some love. Where there is sadness, sow some joy. If you are without love or joy, just try to be modest. The best way anyone can become successful is to always be humble.

PHOTONS, ANGSTROMS AND GLOBAL WARMING: Photons are light waves emitted by the sun. Photosynthesis takes place in vegetation and protista Kingdoms with chlorophyll A, B, C and D, all working at different wavelengths. Microwaves are measured in Centimeters. One Angstrom unit is equal to one hundred millionth of a centimeter. Ten thousand Angstroms are equal to one micron. It takes thirteen-point-six electron volts to rip out a hydrogen electron from its orbit. Due to the polar tilt of the earth to the sun, we have the four seasons. Without a climate change there would be no wind, rain or snow. All of the last 13 decades except two have either been normal or below average temperatures, so there is no need to worry about the so-called global warming.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: And why do you suppose that we all have one mouth, but two ears? Pleasant speech increases persuasiveness. Corrie ten Boom said this: "When the worst happens, and it did, the best remains; and the very best is yet to be." Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a houseful of feasting with strife. Lastly, when you lapse into morbid thoughts, and we all do; drag yourself back up from the mire of self-pity.

PERISHABLE vs IMPERISHABLE : After seeing once again the tornado damage out here in Kansas and Oklahoma, not to mention the recent Tennessee flooding, I am moved to write concerning it. Whether it's a natural disaster or a financial one, the results are one and the same. HEARTBREAK. When we focus on the imperishable things in life, like relationships, we then move away from disappointment. Take a right turn at the fork up ahead; it is called understanding. Once we seek understanding, everything else we need will be ours as well. Too simple? Absolutely not. Here is a glimpse of some understanding: All streams run into the sea, but it is not full. Chance or purpose? Can you name a pump that never needs lubrication? It is called the heart. That is the only absolute dear reading friend. Everything else is perishable. We are all sojourners together. Never lean on your material possessions to be happy. IN ALL YOUR GETTING, GET UNDERSTANDING

NO ROOM FOR ACRIMONY: In the great plains of this spacious country, a father and young daughter were outside of their farm one day, and they saw a great field fire coming toward their farm. The winds were against them and so the flames came towards them with unrelenting speed. The little girl vociferated, and the father started burning a swath of dry grassland around the family farm. She naturally questioned her father as to why he would do such a terrible thing at a time like this. He then proceeded to tell his little girl that by burning away the surrounding chaff, the fire would not be able to cross over the burned-out patch and so the land would be spared. This analogy speaks to us in a metaphorical way. Our tongue, or more accurately our inner being, is harder to tame than any fire or even an animal. We need to burn away anything that causes the tongue to lash out needlessly and without prudent thought. I have found that it is better to listen than to speak. If you must speak, ask yourself: Is it necessary? Is it helpful? Never let the sun go down on your anger!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: We make a living by what we get. Conversely, we make a life by what we give. Don't expect money if you don't respect money. People who love money will never be satisfied with money. Utopian philosophy has never worked. Focus rather on the imperishable things in life, not the perishable. The word FEAR = FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL. Precious treasure remains in a wise person's dwelling, but a foolish person devours it. A saint has a past; a wrongdoer a future. Let's finish with a joke. ATTORNEY: A person who writes a 11,000 word document and calls it a brief.

THE NIGHT SHIFT: We have Secretaries Day, Groundhog Day, April Fools' Day and a host of other prominent days on our calendar. But there is no special day to recognize or honor the shift worker. They provide goods and services for us regular folks while we sleep. As we enjoy our normal evenings and sleep-filled nights, not to mention the weekends, the shift workers are on the job. Police on the beat, doctors and nurses at the hospital, the waitress at the local, water and sewer and utility workers and all the other occupations providing for our needs while we sleep. For those who chose their respective hours or those who have no choice at all, let's give them a little recognition for a change. Studies have indicated that these workers have a lower resistance to disease along with memory and motor skills impairment. Thank one of them soon if you can.

HIGH DIVIDENDS: There once was a man who just couldn't find even a glimpse of happiness in his life. He spent most of his time chasing after vain pursuits. One day he was taking a long walk in the woods and he saw a small frugal shanty which belonged to a humble monk. The man decided to knock on the door to see if anyone was home, and to his surprise, a very thin man opened the door and invited him in. The place was furnished scantily, but the man inside seemed to have a glow about him. The miserable man talked to the monk at some length about his sadness and emptiness. The humble monk responded in this peculiar way: "Go get some feathers at the chicken farm down the road, and then go to every doorstep of the people you have conversed with in the last month. Just leave one feather at each doorstep, and come back tomorrow." The man did what was suggested and returned the following morning to see this monk. When he knocked on the door, the old monk asked him if he had done what was asked of him. He said yes. Now the monk responded in this way: "Now go and retrieve all the feathers you left at all the doorsteps of those you have been acquainted with, and return back here tomorrow." So the man set out once again to retrieve all the feathers, and behold, no feathers could be found, not even one. He kept looking around but found nothing. Eventually he tired of this and went home. The next morning, he went to the shanty and knocked. Like before, he was invited in. The monk asked him if he had retrieved the feathers. The miserable and worn-out fellow told him that it was very windy and all the feathers had blown away. The monk then told him that nothing we do or say can ever be retrieved but that we can change our direction and be kind to all we come into contact with. This pays HIGH DIVIDENDS.

MEMORIES IN THEIR MUSEUM: You know children growing up have the necessity to hear positive things from their parents. "Can I sleep with the puppy tonight? Can we stay up as late as we want?" These are those innocent things we hear from time to time. Sometimes we just need to say yes to them. Of course this is not to say we give them free rein. But if the child doesn't mind smelling like the dog in the morning, then the parent can convey a positive force in their child's life. As the child grows into adulthood, he or she will have great memories in their museum.

THE WISE AND HUMBLE HERMIT: There once was a very wise and humble hermit who lived in a secluded land. One day some thieves came upon this hermit's dwelling which was quite frugal. As the thieves started to carry off the few possessions from the little hut, the humble hermit came back from his stroll and began to assist the men with their robbery. After they finished he bid them farewell and went inside the hut. After a few minutes, these thieves came back in a hurry and begged the hermit to hide them from a lion who was coming that way.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED ? (Continued) : If I can explain the law of gravity and Einstein's theory of relativity, but have never been instructed in self-examination, I've learned little. If I can play the piano, the violin, seven other instruments, and can write music that moves men to tears, but have not been taught to listen to wise men, I've learned little. If I can classify animals by their family, genus and species, and can write a lengthy scientific paper that wins an award, but have not been introduced to the purpose of it all, I've learned little. If I graduate with a perfect 4.0 and am accepted at the best university with a full scholarship, and if I become a good citizen, voting at each election and fighting for what is moral and right, but have not been told of the vacuity of man, I've learned little. If I can run cross-country races, star in basketball, and do 100 push-ups without stopping, but have not been shown how to bend my spirit to help another in need, I've learned little. However, if one day I see the world above "see level," and come to know that children don't demand perfection-but they sure hate hypocrisy, then indeed I've learned very much. The end.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED? If I learn my ABC's, can read 600 words per minute, and can write with perfect penmanship, but have not been shown how to communicate with those around me, I've learned little. If I can deliver an eloquent speech and persuade you with my stunning logic, but have not been instructed in philanthropy, I've learned little. If I have memorized addition facts, multiplication tables and chemical formulas, but have not been disciplined to be a good steward of the land, I've learned little. TO BE CONTINUED.

MAYDAY - MAYDAY Like the breaking of a great dam, there appears to be a deluge of an ever-growing ignorance regarding morality which is bringing a famine to our land. Consider what Thomas Jefferson said: "No provision of our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that which protects the rights of conscience." James Madison said this: "Government is instituted to protect property of every sort...[and] conscience is the most sacred of all property." Could there be another reason for the brokenness in the populace and business world other than a morality crisis?

You know the more material things you own, the more you're owned by those things. Why then is there an economic meltdown? Honesty translates into mental health; dishonesty into mental illness. When simplicity and humility cross-fertilize a life becomes transformed., not to mention recession-proof. In the business world we all need to neutralize self-sabotaging impulses. We need to focus on elimination, not acquistion. I wonder if there are any other reasons for the current economic meltdown besides diverse weights and measures?
