Author Biography

Gene's fiction has been published by Highlights for Children, READ, Heinemann, and Fast Forward Press. His first novel, "The Family That Wasn't" has just been published by IUniverse. He is also the author of numerous essays, including "My Life as a Lizard," which will appear in the next issue of Snowy Egret Journal.
He is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Arizona Authors Association, and Professional Writers of Prescott.
A former junior high school science teacher and Instructional Specialist with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Prescott, AZ, Gene lives in Chino Valley, AZ.
Influences/Inspirations:
Gene has been most influenced by the natural world around him, which constantly amazes him. He also tends to see the absurd in situations, his favorite quote being: "The absurd is the essential concept and the first truth." (Albert Camus)
Favorite Writers and Artists:
Kurt Vonnegut, Albert Camus, E.B. White, James Thurber, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Steven Millhauser, Rick Bass, and Magnus Mills.
Current Projects:
He is currently working on a sequel to his his just published fantasy novel, "The Family That Wasn't."
