Author Biography

Deanie spent her childhood in the tiny town of Easton, CT where her parents owned a riding school. She taught horseback riding there for many years.
Deanie is a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature and a member of Cambridge Who's Who. She had articles published in "Horsepower" Magazine and "Why we Wrote."
Her first award-winning children's book, Tails of Sweetbrier, was published in 2009. It was chosen Most Inspirational by the staff of the Pawling Book Cove. Tails of Sweetbrier is an autobiography of a little girl who realizes her dream of becoming a champion equestrian, in spite of her handicap. It shows the reader that nothing is impossible if you persevere.
Deanie's second book, Charlie the Horse, is a fictional children's story of a racehorse who wants to win the Kentucky Derby. Charlie's amusing adventures will entertain children while they learn important life lessons. Charlie the Horse was a Book of the Week selection. Deanie's sister, Holly Humphrys-Bajaj, illustrates her books. Holly's beautiful drawings bring the stories to life. Their third book, Charlene the Star, has just been released. Deanie enjoys watching equestrian events, singing and music,and she's an avid Yankee fan. She loves spending time with her husband, Francis, their sons, Brendan and Shane, and their dog, Elliott.
Deanie is now administrator for the writer's group,"The Pen is Mightier than the Sword", on Cambridge Who's Who website.

Influences/Inspirations:
My family was a great positive influence on me. They always emphasized that nothing is impossible if I persevered. I would love to be a positive role model for children. All of my books encourage kids to do their best and never give up on their dreams.
Favorite Writers and Artists:
Deanie's favorite children's authors are James Marshall for his George and Martha series. The stories are funny, informative and creative. No wonder children everywhere love them! Also, She enjoys reading books by Bill O'Reilly and former First Lady Barbara Bush. Their work is entertaining, while sharing important words of wisdom.
Current Projects:
Deanie and her illustrator/sister, Holly Humphrys-Bajaj, are currently working on their fourth book together,Charlene the Star & Hattie's Heroes. It's the second in their series of Charlene the Star books. They'll be sure to announce when the book is released.
Deanie's book, Tails of Sweetbrier, is being re-released with Tate Publishing. For a short time it will only be available by contacting Deanie at:deanie@dhdunne.tk. It will be available with Tate Publishing shortly.
Interests:
Spending time with her husband, Francis, their children, Brendan & Shane, and their dog, Elliott. In addition, she's an avid Yankee fan. She loves watching equestrian events. She enjoys music and singing, as well as reading.
