Author Biography

Dawn McCooey lives in Victoria, BC Canada with her husband.She has over 20 years experience in business and HR consulting practice. Dawn managed her company with 32 staff in 3 offices while she obtained a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University.She was voted "Best Boss" in Victoria by the Vancouver Island Business Examiner.
Her extensive local and offshore sailing background and experience helped her to create this unique nautical theme for an important business subject.

Take the helm! Keep your good employees on board, and have some fun on this voyage!
Influences/Inspirations:
The combination of years of experience in business and HR consulting topped off by my recent offshore sailing adventures (and misadventures) helped me to form the metaphor.
Favorite Writers and Artists:
I love Stephen King and Kathy Reichs for escape novels and I follow many business and leadership authors including Kouzes and Posner; Margaret Wheatley;and Peter Senge and others.
Current Projects:
I am now undertaking a major launch of my book - January 26 and still looking for partners or sponsors who might benefit from " coming on board " my launch. OK sorry for the repeat metaphor!
Interests:
Offshore and local Sailing! I also love cooking - even on a sailboat. Hey! Everything tastes good at sea - especially when eaten out of a ziploc bag.
Family:
I am married with 3 grown children.
University Affiliations:
Graduated from Royal Roads University, Victoria BC, June 1998 with a Masters degree in Leadership and Training.
