His experience spans a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, energy, metals, healthcare, financial services, biotechnology, consumer products, and high technology.

Charlie started his career as an academic, and then moved to Digital Equipment Corporation to help the company develop a market orientation. In the mid-eighties, he founded the Amherst Consulting Group, and under his leadership the firm grew an average of sixty percent a year, numbering among its clients six consulting firms that were ostensibly its competitors. In 2000, Amherst was acquired by a billion dollar IT services company. After serving as Senior Vice-President of internet strategy, he left to found 180 Partners.
Charlie completed his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. work at the University of Michigan. He lives in Newton, Massachusetts, with his wife and two daughters.
