Author Biography

Considered one of the most authoritative voices in the publishing and bookselling worlds, Charles Decker is an independent consultant to such companies and organizations as Time magazine, CourtTV, Peter Senge's Society for Organizational Learning in Boston, and the training guru Price Pritchett's company, Pritchett, Lp., in Dallas. He speaks regularly to human resources and training groups internationally as well as Chambers of Commerce across the country. He has been profiled in the Los Angeles Times, Publishers Weekly, Across the Board, and the San Francisco Chronicle.

A former senior executive at Amazon.com, he is also the former Director of Doubleday's Executive Program, at the time the largest business book club in the world, and the Architects and Designers Book Club. He regularly previewed more than 2,500 manuscripts every year for potential exposure to book club members.

He launched the Readers' Choice column at Fast Company magazine in 2003 and has been involved in the Business Literacy movement, which encourages group reading of business books in corporate settings, for nearly 15 years.

Charles is the co-author with Leslie Yerkes of 'Beans: Four Principles for Running a Business in Good Times and Bad' [a Bookscan bestseller and BookSense 76 choice, now translated into fifteen languages] and the author of 'Lessons from the Hive: The Buzz on Surviving and Thriving in an Ever-Changing Workplace', the Burt's Bees story. He is working on two more books and a WWII screenplay for Danny DeVito's production company, Jersey Pictures. He lives in New York City and Dallas.
