Author Biography

Bob Wolfe was born in Bedford, Ind. He has lived throughout the state, as well as in Michigan and Illinois. After graduating from high school in Marion,Ind., he entered the Army and received specialized training as a construction forman in the combat engineers at Fort Belvoir, Va. He was expecting to serve in the Pacific Theater in WWII, but the war's sudden end changed those plans. Wolfe's military career took him from Virginia to California, New York, France, Belgium and Germany. Serving in the army of occupation, he participated in the beginning of the rebuilding of Europe. After his discharge, Wolfe worked as a freelance photographer and photo finisher. He then reported to the Western Union Telegraph Company training center in Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was there that he met Clara, the "Little Girl from the Prairie."

A lifelong interest in History is reflected in his works to date. He is now working on a historical novel. It is based on two of his Great Grandfathers and a Great Uncle, all of whom served in the Civil War. None of them were in the same regiment but they all saw significant action in the western theater and two were with General Sherman in the Atlanta Campaign and the March to the sea. Two generations later, the grandson of one marries the grand daughter of the other.
