Why would wealthy Philip Creighton leave his bride of only seven months to join the Union army at the outset of the Civil War--with the hope of being killed?
That is the question at the heart of Creighton's Crossroads, Betty Larosa's novel of love, war, betrayal and retribution. Creighton's Crossroads is the first book in a four-part family saga.
Philip Creighton is jarred from the privileged existence he's always known and is forced to re-assess his view of life after sharing war-time experiences with a cross-section of soldiers from different states. These experiences take him from fashionable Washington soirees to the bloody trences of Petersburg, Virginia, but his emotional journey is even longer and more difficult.
Larosa, who lives in Bridgeport, West Virginia, near the heart of Civil War county, with her husband Gene, felt inspired to write about the human wreckage left in the wake of that war. During her research, she visited many of the battlefields and all the locations mentioned in the four books.

I LOVE TO READ.... and this book is quite the "PAGE TURNER". this author immediately draws you into the life of Philip Creighton and how this kind-hearted gentleman is tormented by the actions of those who claim to love him. Each chapter keeps you biting your nails and waiting to find what follows. It was difficult to put the book down. My family was left to fend for themselves until the last page was turned. LOVED IT! Okay B. Larosa...we're waiting for book 2...BRING IT ON.

It's a distinct pleasure to see a new author emerge with such a careful, detailed, and skillful writing style. I have always been a finicky reader of a wide variety of books. Mrs. Larosa's first book was one that held my interest. She did a splendid job in weaving an interesting, unpredictable fictional family tale into the tragic tapestry of the Civil War. She obviously did her homework on this one. I'm looking forward to her futre efforts. Encore please.

Ms. Larosa has outdone herself with a second fascinating, well-written novel. Her characters are strong and nicely set in the frustrations and uncertainties of the Civil War. Her storyline has a wide range of emotions and delivers both humorous, sad and romantic surprises.
I am hooked on her series and wished that this book had never ended. Hers is an interest-holding, excellent writing style that belies a rich depth of authentic, in-person historical research to back up the Creighton Family's fictional sage. I only wish that I'd come across her book(s) earlier. Bravo.
