Author Biography
Betty, a dynamic speaker and charming 70 something “hottie,” wows her audiences with a sad/funny/uplifting and sometimes hilarious accounting of life after the death of her husband of 49 years. She is a retired art teacher but writing became a way to heal that eventually took on a life of its own. She married young and had much to learn about being single. She shares her journey of widowhood with poignancy and humor, and her road to self-sufficiency is filled with laughter, creativity, connection, and transformation and tears, self-doubt, and lonely nights. Betty lands of her feet, ready for whatever comes next. Her adventures and misadventures about surviving loss and getting back into the dance of life instead of sitting on the sidelines are uplifting and fun. She has spoken to workshops, conferences, and organizations in the Bay Area of California and beyond. Her stories have been published in the Chocolate for a Woman’s Soul series and the San Jose Mercury News and other periodicals. |
