This book is about my Mom's biography, a publication of her poetry, not mine. In some area's I have focused on my life.
A book written to honor my mother, Dorothy, born April 1, 1923. The middle child of Joseph and Mary Gladish, she died in 1988.
A graduate of Rossford High School, her future goal to become a English Teacher. In 1940, at the young age of 16 she met and married the love of her life Tom Hatas, her future plans were set aside, she now was a homemaker raising four children, Tommy, Becky, Joe and Peter.
Around 1967, Tom and her decided to purchase her parents Farm and Orchard in Grand Rapids, Ohio. (They offered the best home grown crop of Peaches and Apples that you could bite into.) They farmed for about 10 years, retiring to a home on Bailey Road.
Before leaving Toledo, Ohio in 1993, my Dad came over to say goodbye to his only two grandchildren Eric and Rosanne. With tears in his eyes he handed me this ragged bundle of papers, "Here", he said, I want you to have this, (Mom's writings), I know someday you'll be the one to publish her poetry. The bundle was safely placed amongst moving boxes.

Influences/Inspirations:
It's been very difficult for me to publish this book. I've had feelings of sadness, pain and frustration. (Some of her poetry goes unpublished, because of her penmanship). Trying to determine what she was saying on paper (told me) that her illnes was more than what we/her family were aware of and would not accept on the day of her death.
Through her writings, I can now accept her pain and silent suffering. I've come to know my Mom in a more caring and loving way.

Current Projects:
My current projects will be to publish a second book, "Favorite Family Receipes" from Hatas Orchard, a book of "secret receipes", those oldtime flavors we savored from our childhood.

To the readers of this poetry book, you'll come to know my mom, Dorothy. Through her writings you will learn about her inner thoughts, her heritage and devotion to God.
Her life focused on future events, a poem untitled to the breakup of the family, her death and terroism.
Family:
I really haven't heard or spoken with my three brothers in years.
