Although Katie did not attend the Special Olympics Summer Games, she did practice for an compete in the Softball Skills. She earned a Gold Medal at the Area meet, and then a Bronze at the States in September.
She is also trying another skill - horseback riding! She went to the State meet on 9/25 and thoroughly enjoyed herself. So far, it is the only sport that she has tried in which quiet is expected - not Katie's specialty. But it was a fun time!
Now we switch to swimming again.

bcomquest -- I am glad that you enjoyed it! I would be interested in hearing of your ideas for further marketing, or groups who might enjoy this book. Additionally, I am available to speak at in-service workshops for those working with special needs individuals or parents of the disabled.

True stories are always more educational and fun to read. “I’m Katie’s Mom” has focused on what was learned the hard way along the path of Katie’s life, making it easier for new parents of special needs children to read.

This book is an excellent learning tool for students in Special Education, Recreation Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

One parent’s story of battles won and lost for her child of special needs – an education for all of us.

“I’m Katie’s Mom” is an insight into the lives of a parent and child with special needs. The author captures Katie’s “words” as only Katie could “speak” them.
