Dear Dr. Dobie,
Go to my web site www.braintospell.com
to discover Patricia McAlexander reviewed my book on spelling and gave it a very positive rating.
I would think almost everyone will find my book Using the Brain to Spell a valuable resource because it contains numerous enjoyable activities that will help children and even adults grow not only in spelling ability but also in all communication skills. Included are specific strategies I have used in teaching Special Education students mainstreamed into my 7th grade classes. Teaching them logical spelling techniques quickly helped them to make a DRAMATIC improvement in attempting to spell words in their working vocabulary.
A child’s first word indicates the beginning of his/her language development in which one counterpart is learning to spell. My book, therefore, is very relevant to working with little ones as well as all levels of learners.
The focus of my book is on HOW children should be taught, the essence of which is to make learning fun!
I am excited about having my book published, one that I started working on in graduate school way back in 1988 and then as a teacher-researcher in my 7th grade classes for the next 11 years.
I would think students planning to teach language arts would find it a valuable resource.
Are you in Pat's grammar club? I would enjoy being a member in I lived near.
